History
In the summer of 2002, Co-Founder Christopher Cooper, who had been pursuing his Ph.D. in nanotechnology in the Physics Department of Dartmouth College, met Co-Founder Alan Cummings. They founded the company and started work in the fall of 2002. Roger Kennedy; former CFO of the Ford Foundation, Director of the National Park Service and Director of the National Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, the third Co-Founder of the company, joined them that fall. Alan has been the CEO and Chris the CSO of the company since its inception. They both remain active and are the principal shareholders of the company. Roger remains an important advisor to the company.
Corporate Milestones
- November 2002 – Began work in borrowed lab space at Dartmouth College;
- April 2003 – Secured laboratory space in Windsor, Vermont, and constructed the first 2500 sq. ft. facility for experimental work;
- November 2003 – Signed $313,428 Technology Investment Agreement (TIA) with USAF for a water purification prototype
- January 2004 – Signed a Phase I SBIR with NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center on water purification” $69,997.
- February 2004 – Delivered first prototypes of a Nano Purification Device for low volume personal water purification to Brooks AFB.
- February 2004 – signed a TIA with USAF on Water Filtration: $1,600,000.
- November 2004 – Signed Phase II SBIR with NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center: $599,969.
- December 2004 – Signed Phase I SBIR with DARPA on air filtration: $98,626
- December 2004 - Work with Saab Barracuda on signature management
- May 2005 – signed contract with USAF/AFRL/HE for purification of fluids: $2,573,295.
- June 2006 signed contract with USAF/AFRL/HE for purification of fluids: $6,548,000.
- November 2007 – Corporate reorganization. Seldon Technologies, Inc., is the surviving corporation of a merger of: Seldon Technologies, LLC (2002), Seldon Laboratories, LLC (2003), Seldon Fluid Technologies, Inc (2004)
- April 2008 – Signed contract with USAF/AFRL/HE on purification of fluids: $2,094,000.
- February 2008 – Signed Phase I SBIR with NASA for Filtration of Lunar Dust: $99,963.
- January 2009 - Signed SBIR Phase II contract with NASA for Lunar Dust filtration: $599,718.
- March 2009 - Signed USAF contract to scale up media and configure devices using water technology and move forward with air, fuel and desalination projects: $4,382,000.
- June 2009 - Signed Phase I SBIR with NSF "Functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes for making highly efficient water separation membranes for ultralow sulfur diesel fuels:" $99,853.
- December 2009 - Signed Phase I SBIR with DOE "Novel Carbon Nanotube Containing Media for Water Separation from B-100 Biodiesel:" $138,161.
- January 2010 - Signed Phase I SBIR with USAF "Elimination of Microbial Contamination in Jet Fuel:" $99,759.
